A NEW SHAPE…

I am enjoying working with a new shape: Menhir, named because it reminds me of the stones that Obelix carries around in the Asterix books, which helped me learn to read French!

Here are the first two menhirs, which develop different themes that I have been exploring in my past work: weaving patterns and trompe l’oeil.

ANOTHER DOUBLE TWIST VASE…

….probably the last unless I get commissions.  It has been a fun shape to work with and who knows, I may come back to it again…

TALL OVAL VASE WOVEN (I)

I am both delighted and sad to have sold this vase.  Made in 2014, it has been with me for quite some time so I have grown to enjoy its company.  I hope it enjoys its new home, in a restored 1960’s James Bond style mansion; I can’t wait to see the pictures!

BRINGING POTS TO CHINA

I had such fun showing my Geometric Collection at the Best of British exhibition in Shanghai at the end of October.  It was a wonderful opportunity to meet new friends and find out more about the Chinese market.

I made the decision to leave the remains of the collection in Shanghai, to take advantage of the various opportunities that were on offer.  I’m looking forward to future developments!

Thank you so much to Media-10 for arranging the show, to Cristina Liu from Rennie for making the plinths and to the wonderful Sophia Ni who worked tirelessly as my translator.

It goes almost without saying that Marcus Cole and Issy Ogden’s designs for the plinths were a total success and that without Jamie Cole’s enthusiasm and persuasion, I would not have been there – or had such a successful time.

Thank you all.

NEW VIDEO

Here is a lovely video of some of the pots that were exhibited at the Herrick Gallery in February.  Courtesy of Marcus Cole.

A new commissioned vase

It’s not often that a client takes you to their home, points to a place on their sideboard and says “Make me something to go here.”

This is especially welcome, when ‘here’ is in a beautiful room, surrounded by understated but incredibly elegant abstract paintings, lit from both sides with generous windows looking out onto fabulous, mature gardens.

A wonderful challenge.

This slipcase vase, part glazed and part exposed underglaze, is my response.

Special edition of Vogue Living in German Vogue

What to say?  Privileged, delighted, lucky?  Whatever the appropriate word is, I’m amazed to have one of my pots featured in the Modern Art section of Vogue Living,  in German Vogue June 2018.

Thank you Katharina Hesedenz for selecting Flat Oval Vase: Arrow Heads (i) and to Vanessa Daly for photographing it so beautifully.

Another commissioned piece….

In stark contrast to the previous commission, this one specified bright, colourful, sunny and three-dimensional…

Many thanks for the challenge Laura!
